Sweet Basil Catering Rave Reviews

We absolutely love what we do, and it shows! Here's what some of our clients say about us:

"When I began my search for a caterer for our special day, I had one thought I mind - a foodie. We intended to have a non-traditional, elegant cocktail party with excellent seafood and live music, following a special intimate ceremony on the patio deck of my fiance's parent's vacation home in Shelter Cove. I am a perfectionist, and incredibly anal, and I'd been "dreaming" up this wedding for two years... I knew exactly what I needed and wanted, and given my background with event planning, knew that I'd be picky about who we trusted to help execute our perfect day.

When I first contacted Yvette, her enthusiasm and knowledge about catering and food completely impressed me.

Through every step of our wedding, she was working through the details, she understood that food was not just another part of our wedding day, but rather the CENTER of our day. We wanted our guests to enjoy delicious treats like fresh oysters on the half shell, crab, shrimp, lamb-sausage stuffed mushrooms, and we also wanted a few of our own personal favorites - such as buffalo wings and brie cheese.

Mind you, my husband and his father are both avid fishermen, with a fishing retreat/lodge in Alaska and a love of delectable crustaceans. The seafood needed to be fresh and perfect...I ordered a custom ice display for the center of the table which would showcase these treats...Yvette went out of her way to find a place that she could pull live oysters out of the Pacific NorthWest ocean bay, just hours before our guests would enjoy them.

When I informed Yvette that we wanted a French Cruller Donut Display instead of a cake - she immediately took to the challenge, almost as if she were on Cupcake Wars or a show on television. She contacted me throughout the process about the blue glaze and silver powder dust, and how she was perfecting the eggy recipe.

Through the weeks of planning, our love of food made us more than business partners- I just enjoyed talking with her. She truly is an inspiring woman with incredible talent.

We didn't do the traditional "wait to feed the guests until after the photos" we let them dive right into oysters, crab and shrimp while we were busy capturing the moments. She busted bum all evening to keep all the food overflowing. Did I mention her staff? An incredibly warm group of people who love their job and take it seriously - we had a lot of "custom" drinks for the winter wedding - like blue iced champagne drinks for the sunset over the ocean (which was socked in, in romantic mystic fog), and eggnog with brandy (for chilly guests to sip while they waited for the bride to arrive)...they nailed it- finding custom glasses and displays to perfectly accentuate our "Dr. Suess whimsical" meets "Chronicles of Narnia" themed December Ice Wedding.

She and her team, are true professionals, who take food seriously. Our guests are still raving about the food at our wedding, as we've already run into many of them at my brother's wedding - and our friends weddings... we hear "the food is good, but nobody can beat the food you had at your wedding."

She gifted upon our journey for our honeymoon (since we'd just gotten back from Ireland, we opted to jaunt down Pacific Coast Highway 1 through Fort Bragg and spend the weekend lounging at a spa retreat in Bodega Bay) with a care package of in-room picnic treats to enjoy while we spent a few days tucked into a down comforter together... Every item in her picnic basket was locally made, and absolutely wonderful.

I can't say enough about her ability to deliver an elegant, delicious display of food for any event...and as I wrap this letter, I feel myself salivating...off to the kitchen now to see what snacks I can drum up."

The Food Was Amazing

I got married in Northern California this past summer. It was extremely difficult to find a caterer in the area because I live in the Bay Area. My research was solely done online. I came across Sweet Basil Catering and started the planning process. I wasn't sure at first because I wasn't able to find many reviews, but once I talked to Yvette I knew that we had made the right decision. She was the NICEST person to work with. She was open to our menu ideas, friendly, accommodating with our budget, etc. The planning process was such a breeze!

Then at the wedding I was so happy with the food. My husband and I love food flavors and food experiences. We wanted to make sure that our guests enjoyed what they ate at the wedding. We had been to many wedding where the food was just not that great... And in the end our guests were blown away. Everything turned out wonderful.

Other than food quality, the day of service that was provided was flawless. They came, set up, provided all services we asked for in a timely fashion, and then cleaned the tables and food prep area before they left that evening. When we woke up the next day it was like they were never there... I knew that they were at the wedding, but everything just ran so smoothly that we didn't even notice them working.

I really recommend this catering service for your upcoming event. They were wonderful to work with and did a phenomenal job in every aspect of the service that was provided.

Fabulous find in North Coast

I searched desperately for a caterer to help with a small pre-wedding reception in a remote area of the northern California coast. Luckily I found Sweet Basil Catering who agreed to provide several platters of food and deliver them to our remote location.

I was expecting nothing more than platters of food, similar to what I could pick up at Whole Foods in the city but what I received was a beautiful, thoughtful presentation of a variety of delicious hors d' oeuvres that literally delighted every guest. Not only was the food presented with great attention to detail, everything was nicely prepared and delicious.

Yvette was easy to work with and open to changes as our plans progressed. She made the reception a wonderful experience for all. I highly recommend Sweet Basil Catering.

"Dear Yvette,

Thank you very much for catering our wedding reception. The food was amazing, the display was beautiful, and the staff was excellent.

We truly appreciated how easy it was to work with you, even when  we had last minute needs.

Our guests consistently commented on how good the food was, and fresh! Thank you for providing locally grown options and accommodating my gluten allergy. We couldn't have asked for a better catering company.

Thank you for the excellent bottle  of Moonstone Crossing wine. We enjoyed the wine on our honeymoon as well as hiking, kayaking, swimming in the Trinity and lots of wonderful time together. "

Sweet Basil has catered our 5-day charitable bicycling event-Climate Ride-for the past 5 years, and they do an amazing job!

If they can accommodate 180 peoples' dietary restrictions and preferences for 5 days over 320 miles on the road, they would do an amazing job at your wedding.

Yvette and her team love food, genuinely care, and work well under pressure. She constantly makes sure everything is OK and working well, and has boundless patience, enthusiasm, and creativity. I highly recommend Sweet Basil Catering.

"Next time you need a caterer, give Sweet Basil Catering a call. I highly recommend Yvette Troyna and the rest of the Sweet Basil Catering team.

When I was on the Rotary Club of Eureka's board, I was lucky enough to work closely with Yvette and her team when they served us at our regular meetings for six months at the Wharfinger. Sweet Basil Catering did a fantastic job at accommodating our many special requests. They were so pleasant and easy to work with.

We enjoyed many excellent meals and no matter what, the Sweet Basil Catering team greeted us with a smile. Using Sweet Basil Catering should bring a smile to your face too."

During the process of planning a dinner for 130 people, the road was long, bumpy, and ended up to be 30 people. Through all of that trauma and drama Yvette was warm, open, helpful, and understanding.

Once we got to the actual dinner she and her kitchen staff were calm, focused, and unhurried. As a result, I felt that the food they presented was delicious, as well as reflective of the kitchen in which it was prepared. I would work with Yvette and Sweet Basil in a heart beat."

Please accept our thanks for your donation to Cornerstone Theater Company. The elegant cake and catering you provided created a lovely and unique celebration of our opening night of 'Jason in Eureka.'

Your talent and professional arrangements were a high-caliber treat that we can rarely provide for the cast and crew of our community-collaborative performances. Thank you for your participation in our community endeavor. Your generosity, not to mention, your creative confectionary delight, was much admired and appreciated by our company."
